Membership in the Secret Door Society is granted through a personal intake process. There are no shortcuts, no referral codes, and no open registrations.

How membership works.

1. Submit an Inquiry

Complete the inquiry form on our site. Tell us who you are, what draws you to the society, and what you're looking for. This is your first impression—be genuine.

2. Review & Screening

Our team reviews every inquiry personally. We assess alignment with our values, social maturity, and genuine intent. This is not a tick-box exercise—we take our time.

3. Verification

Approved applicants complete identity verification and a brief video or phone conversation with a member of our team. This protects everyone in the community.

4. Onboarding

New members receive our full code of conduct, event guidelines, and access to the member portal. You'll be invited to a New Member Welcome evening as your first event.

5. First Evening

Your first event is in a smaller, guided setting with experienced hosts. After that, you're a full member with access to all upcoming gatherings.

What membership includes.

Beyond access to events, membership means belonging to a trusted community that values quality connection. You'll have access to a private member portal where you can view upcoming events, manage your RSVP, and communicate with the host team.

Members also receive advance notice of themed evenings, priority access when events are at capacity, and the confidence that every person in the room has been through the same careful intake process.

Membership can be paused or cancelled at any time. No lock-in contracts, no exit fees.

How long does the intake process take?

Typically 1–2 weeks from inquiry to approval. We don't rush—every application receives personal attention.

Can I bring a friend or partner?

Inner Circle and Founding members may bring one verified guest per quarter. Social members can refer someone through the standard intake process.

What if I want to cancel?

Cancel anytime through the member portal. No lock-in periods, no exit fees. We'd rather you leave on good terms than stay reluctantly.

Is my identity kept private?

Absolutely. Member identities are never disclosed to other members without explicit consent. Your real name is only known to the host team for safety purposes.

What happens if someone violates the code of conduct?

Immediate removal from the event and permanent revocation of membership. We operate a zero-tolerance policy on boundary violations, harassment, and recording.

Do I need to attend every event?

No. Attend as many or as few as you like. Your membership gives you access—there's no minimum attendance requirement.
